So summer is off to a flying start and I’m already on my third book, The Ask: A Novel by Sam Lipsyte!
I had never heard of it until I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts, the Slate Culture Gabfest. They’re having their first live show next week in New York and in preparation they’ve assigned The Ask (here’s Slate’s review) as homework for one of the topics of the show.
I’m only a little over half way through it but it’s a great, biting book. Totally one of the books that makes people look at you strange in the cafe as you chuckle to yourself, alone, in the corner.
Their scorn is worth it.
